History, Mission, Philosophy

Meridian Services, Inc. was incorporated in 1972 as a community-based, non-profit organization with the mission of “…aiding the abuser in attaining and maintaining abstinence.” We recognized over the years that individuals and families dealing with alcohol and/or other drug addictions face many barriers to achieving abstinence. These issues, which include mental illness, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, educational and vocational deficiencies, inadequate medical care, etc. made it crucial that our organization develop additional programs and services to effectively accomplish our mission.

Today, Meridian Services, Inc. offers a comprehensive array of programs and services that include alcohol and other drug treatment and prevention, primary healthcare, housing, employee assistance programming, and much more.

Substance abuse can have devastating effects on a community. The Meridian Services’ philosophy is to recognize and address emerging community needs created as a result of this growing epidemic.
